Spain simplifies tax return for non-residents
In February 2024, Spain implemented several tax changes. These include 2 important adjustments to the tax code that make it easier for non-resident owners and expats. These adjustments are intended to simplify the tax process. Moreover, they also contribute to a more positive image of Spain. By making the tax process more accessible, Spain encourages international investment.
Declaration of rental income
non-residents
One of the most important changes has to do with declaring rental income. Previously, non-residents had to declare their rental income every three months. With the new rules, this is now done annually, which means less administrative work.

Another important change has to do with the way taxes are paid. Previously, you had to have a Spanish bank account to pay taxes. With the new rules, non-residents can now use SEPA bank accounts, providing more convenience and flexibility.
